Minnie’s Smile

Minnie sighed, gazing out her window. She was observing the street ahead when suddenly she saw a brown-haired boy, holding a grocery kit. He appeared lost as he looked around. Out of nowhere, his eyes met hers and she gasped in wonder. Her heart skipped a beat when the boy gently smiled at her from beneath his mask. He asked her—

“Minnie! Wake up, it’s eleven already!” yelled her mother and Minnie jolted up in a jiffy. “Get ready, we’re running out of groceries.”

Groceries… Something rang a bell as she dragged her legs out of bed. The boy!

“Wow.” She muttered.

“How long are you going to sleep so late, they’ve just announced they’re extending the lockdown for a month more.” questioned her mother.

At that Minnie smiled knowingly as she had many nights and days to find that boy again in her dreams.
